Ex- Physician Faces Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have stated that a former doctor has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
The Serious Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – including some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
The charges follow what police called a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents outline the forty-five sexual offences include:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
