Helen Mirren Set to Receive Golden Globe Cecil B DeMille Award.
The celebrated English actor Dame Helen, currently holder of an Academy Award, multiple Bafta awards, Golden Globe wins, five Emmys, plus a Tony, is set to receive another esteemed prize to her trophy case: the Cecil B. DeMille Globes' career honor.
Ceremony Details
Mirren, eighty, previously made a dame in 2003 and honored as a BAFTA fellow back in 2014, will accept the award during a presentation on 8 January, just prior to the primary Globes ceremony are held, within an event billed by the organization as the “Golden Eve”.
This will also include the bestowal of the Golden Globes’ Carol Burnett honor for small-screen contributions, the honoree for which is still to be revealed. Previous recipients featured Viola Davis along with Ted Danson.
“Helen Mirren is an unstoppable talent, and her career is absolutely exceptional,” said the Golden Globes president, president of the Golden Globes. “Her brilliant portrayals and commitment to her craft constantly motivate generations of artists and fans too. It’s a tremendous privilege to award her the Cecil B DeMille award.”
Professional Journey
Mirren gained prominence back in the 70s through significant parts on stage in the West End of London and with the Royal Shakespeare Company as well as in movies including O Lucky Man!, Caligula & The Long Good Friday.
During the nineties, her starring role in the crime series Prime Suspect increased her popularity even more. Additional notable movies feature Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park and Calendar Girls.
She won an Oscar for her role as Queen Elizabeth II in 2006 film The Queen, a role she revisited in 2013 in The Audience, the stage production by Peter Morgan about the meetings with the Queen and the PM Thatcher, and for which she received a Tony Award during 2015.

- Her role in the Netflix adaptation for The Thursday Murder Club has also been praised and honors speculation is increasing regarding her role as a dying matriarch in Winslet’s directorial debut, Goodbye June.
- Next year, Mirren will be seen as Patricia Highsmith in Corbijn’s dramatic film, Switzerland.
Golden Globe nominations will be announced on 8 December, featuring the film by Paul Thomas Anderson One Battle After Another, Zhao’s Hamnet along with Ryan Coogler’s Sinners anticipated to be prominent.
