Iran Reports Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in response for a significant and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is uncertain and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have intercepted missiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported missile fragments fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
