Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear in the latest Hunger Games series instalment, Sunrise on the Reaping.

Reports indicate that original actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are returning to their iconic characters in the newest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.

A Major Reunion for Fans

The duo will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. It is believed their appearance will probably be featured in a flash-forward sequence, given that the main film series concluded with their characters living in peace.

This represents the sixth film in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.

Delving Into the Prequel

Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a newly published work by author Suzanne Collins. It acts as the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed nearly all the previous films in the series.

The Plot and New Cast

The film's story are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, destined to become Katniss's mentor, is featured as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.

The film welcomes several notable actors in pivotal roles:

  • Jesse Plemons steps into the role of Plutarch Heavensbee.
  • Ralph Fiennes will appear as a younger version of the menacing President Snow.

Current Projects and Release Timeline

Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence stars in the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson is part of the hit horror film Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
