Manchester United Set to Sign German Forward Lea Schüller from the Bavarian Giants
Manchester United are finalising completing the signing for prolific German forward Lea Schüller in a permanent move from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.
A Major Signing for United
The forward, with six months left on her deal, is known as a consistent goal-getter for her club and the national team. Having scored more than 100 goals for Bayern and found the net 54 times in 82 caps for Germany. This signing will be seen as a marquee signing for the WSL team.
Departure from Bayern has been anticipated since she was seen fighting back tears while thanking the German club’s fans following a victory over Bayer Leverkusen this month.
It was reported in December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was set to lose one of its leading strikers. According to reports, all the paperwork for the move are now finalised.
Reliable Goalscoring to Boost United's Forward Line
The experienced striker's arrival is expected to provide a major boost to United’s attacking options. She has been highly consistent in front of goal in Germany’s top flight.
- For seven straight seasons, up to and including the most recent campaign, she achieved at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
- She claimed the Golden Boot in 2021-22 season with 16 goals.
Gathering Momentum at Old Trafford
The acquisition of Schüller’s signature coincides with a period when United appear to be building momentum.
Their recent performances feature securing a place in the European knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a victory in the League Cup quarter-finals.

- The signing of Sweden right-back Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.
- The contract extension for Japanese midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, a popular figure since joining in 2023.
Regarding Miyazawa’s new deal, a senior figure stated: “Miyazawa is now a critical component to the way we play. Her understanding of the game and skill allows her and the team to control and dictate play from central areas.”
The new defender, having joined from a club in the American league, added: “You can feel how much they [United] have grown in the last few years, competing in one of the strongest leagues in the world and performing in the Champions League.”
