Shock as Popular South African DJ Gunned Down in Johannesburg.

A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been fatally gunned down in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country struggling with persistent crime.

Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the central business district on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the forty-year-old entertainer was accosted by three individuals, one of whom opened fire on him before escaping on foot.

The purpose behind the shooting is unknown and no suspects have been apprehended have taken place, police said.

The Fatal Incident

Police indicated that Stock was attacked as he was departing from a premises close to the city center landmark.

He had been present for hours at the building overseeing the implementation of safety equipment, which had been controversially occupied by unknown people, it was reported.

"The report indicates the man was approached by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they shot at him before escaping on foot," authorities stated.

Surveillance tape showed a suspect with dreadlocks and dressed in what looked like a protective services outfit opening fire on Stock before making his escape.

The DJ sought to escape after he was shot but collapsed on the opposite side of the road.

Police added that Stock had an weapon on his person and no items were stolen during the assault.

Key evidence, like cartridges, were found at the location.

Officials are asking anyone who saw the event who may have have information to assist with the investigation.

"Evidence suggests they traveled on foot after the attack, and officers have been tracking them to find their destination," stated a police chief.

His sister, Nicole Stock, stated the loved ones are reeling to process his death.

"Words fail me. I don't have words," were her words.
"We know he was a voice for many people. He addressed issues courageously about subjects not many people were willing to tackle. This is a devastating blow."

She urged the community to not sharing graphic images from the incident, saying this was an incredibly difficult time, particularly for Stock's children.

Stock was the star of Ngicel' iVisa, a reality show that aired on a South African TV network.

Beyond his work in broadcasting, Stock was active in various commercial activities, including security provision, supplying elite guarding services and managing safety for major functions across South Africa.

In a statement, the channel he worked for said Stock was known for his magnetism, warmth and sharp wit, adding that his influence "will live on".
