Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's natural for questions to be raised about his future after a further convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in 12 matches, representing the club's worst streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got a lot of support from above,” Slot remarked.

“It's important to change things and get a victory of course but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful to the team and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal discussions I perceive the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them since this game so far so let’s see.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Reaction

The manager highlighted recurring failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched this club for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a spell of this nature with performances so bad.”

Jones concluded, “But we still have the crest on our shirts. And as long as it is taken away, we will always fight.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to the top, prove once more the values of this club and why people call it the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
