The Prince of Wales Describes Vision of Beneficial Evolution Upon Becomes King
William announced that "transformation is a key goal – positive change."
During a remarkably candid conversation, William explained his vision for the crown.
"My intention is to scrutinize traditions," he remarked to Eugene Levy during a castle visit.
The prince commented: "My goal is to build a society in which my son is proud of what we do, a world and a job that positively influences society."
Family Life and Media Scrutiny
Prince George, his firstborn, recently marking his twelfth year, is destined to inherit the throne.
His other son, Prince Louis, is seven with Princess Charlotte celebrating her tenth birthday.
William revealed his kids don't use cellphones. He seemed to indicate his desire to protect them from a repeat of "practices" William and his brother encountered in their youth – potentially alluding to media intrusion that also plagued their mother.
"They wanted every bit of detail they could absorb, and they were in everything, literally everywhere," he remarked about relentless press coverage he experienced growing up.
"Allowing that intrusion, the harm to domestic harmony is a situation I swore to prevent," he declared.
Welcoming Evolution Amid Customs
About his reform plans, William said: "I accept and appreciate evolution – I'm not afraid of it. That's the bit that excites me, the possibility of implementing reforms."
He clarified: "Not overly radical change, but changes that I think that need to happen."
He added: "Tradition must be preserved, heritage plays a significant role. Yet, instances occur when assessing traditions and question: 'Does this remain relevant?"
"Is that still the right thing to do? Could we achieve greater influence?'"
Outlook on Coming Royal Duties
After the inquiry about considering the throne, he answered: "It's not something I wake up in the morning and think about, as genuineness and personal identity is what drives me."
"Thereafter, one can apply different designations and duties which accompany that status, unless I remain authentic, and faithful to my principles – then personal significance diminishes," the prince asserted.
"My positions and obligations receive earnest attention but it's important, like I said to you earlier, they shouldn't control you – you must command them," he concluded.
