Toronto Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Meeting Against defending champion Dodgers
The outfielder previously helped the Astros winning the World Series in 2017.
The Toronto Blue Jays earned a spot in their maiden Fall Classic after the 1993 season by overcoming the Mariners in the final Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.
Behind 3-1, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run homer in the seventh inning, guiding the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a 4-3 series win in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the defending champions, holders of the current crown, in the anticipated Fall Classic.
"It's incredible for our team, our city, the nation," said Springer, a key player of the Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "What an amazing experience."
George Springer has now hit 23 post-season home runs, placing him third all-time trailing only Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).
"There's probably not anyone else on planet Earth that I want up in that spot other than Springer with his post-season brilliance," noted Schneider.
The Mariners, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a championship series.
Wilson said "certainly that it's painful" following his club's elimination at their home ballpark, but commended their performance throughout the year.
"This is a unique group. Unfortunately that we finished on the losing end of this game," he remarked.
Toronto's team won the World Series on their two prior appearances in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Los Angeles in game one on the upcoming Friday.
